A review of our beautiful Triathlon Apparel

We wanted to take a moment to touch on why our triathlon apparel is women specific. First and foremost, we are a women specific brand. As woman and as athletes, we understand exactly what is needed when you wear an item of clothing. More specifically, when you wear one of our pieces to race in a short or longer distance triathlon..

Andi Neugarten, the founder of Alii Lifestyle, is an Ironman athlete. Not only has she completed two full Ironman races, she has also completed over one hundred marathons, over 12 Ironman 70.3 events and numerous shorter distance triathlons. She is a lifetime athlete and is well qualified to know what we, as women need when we race and train.

In designing our triathlon and cycling apparel, every conceivable women specific detail has been considered. We are not just athletes, we are also women. We have not only considered everything that is women specific, we have also included fashion and style to deliver beautiful, quality garments. Basically, our apparel is designed by stylish female athletes…… When women look and feel their best they will perform their best.

  1. Fabric - First and foremost are our fabrics. Nothing less than the best for our athletes! We all know what kind of quality comes out of Italian fabric mills and that is exactly where we headed. We sourced the finest quality Italian fabrics. All our fabrics have UV50 sun protection, are anti microbial, quick drying, wicking and have moisture management properties. They perform at the highest level and are also used and tested by Olympic athletes. We cannot stress how soft and luxurious our fabric is. Basically, you just have to touch it to see what we mean!
  2. Design - Next we look at our design. We follow fashion trends when we design a new line and incorporate some fashionable and feminine style details into every item. Our clothing HAS to be feminine as well as functional. We use contoured panels for slimming and compression. Our garments will hold everything in place when we race and train. We love ruching as it’s both elegant and flattering, and we include ruching details in many of our pieces. We also use color blocking, combining bold and beautiful colors that we select from the fashion color trend forecasts for each season. Feminine, Fashionable, Stylish!
  3. Logos - We do not emblazon our logos across your chest. We believe that your workout is all about you, not about us. With Alii Lifestyle you will only ever find a discrete A logo on your apparel. Nothing needs to detract from our designs and from YOU! Again, in keeping our line tasteful and women specific, we leave the logos OFF!
  4. Apparel:

Triathlon tops -As with all the pieces in our collection, we pay very special attention to function first and with triathlon tops, we know that they need to withstand any distance, up to and including a lengthy Ironman distance race. We know you will be in the aero bars for a long time and there is nothing worse than a top that rides up, leaving an annoying burn spot on your back. So, we lengthened the tops, AND we added gripper elastic all the way around the bottom so that the tops stay in place, especially when you are off your bike and running! Then we added contoured panels and used a warp knit compression fabric, ensuring great support. Talking about support, we know how important it is to keep your boobs in place when you race. Nobody wants to wear two bras! So we used a very soft but supportive powermesh in our built in bra liners, providing enough support for anybody up to a full C cup. We also know that not everybody likes racerback tan lines on their back, so we were sure to also offer a singlet style top. To keep you cool we added mesh panels, and, of course, some small, strategically placed pockets to keep all your stuff when you race. Also, there is nothing more annoying than a zipper that keeps on coming down….when you don’t want it to! So, we use locking zippers that lock in place and stay put!

Triathlon Shorts - We take great pride in our very special triathlon shorts. We believe that these are one of the most important pieces in the collection. There is very little between you and the rest of the world when you wear a skimpy pair of tri shorts and we do everything we can to make them comfortable, functional and very, very cute. Firstly, let’s start with the chamois. Very important, as it sits next to a very delicate part of your body for many hours. We use a soft, fast drying, anti-microbial fleece chamois with four way stretch. Next we add a wide waistband with a soft, supportive elastic which is a little higher in the back. We all dislike muffin top’s and our shorts are designed to fit above the hip and hold everything in place, without causing muffin top. We do not use an uncomfortable gripper elastic that can pinch your skin, but instead, have a leg band that fits perfectly and does not cause sausage legs. Of course, the contoured compression panels, beautiful seaming detail and design also make sure that our shorts fit perfectly well. And, one of our most important details we added is a modesty panel in the front and back. They are discrete and comfortable and you don’t even know they are there, but they provide comfort in knowing that you are not displaying your assets to the world. There is nothing worse than being told at the very end of the ride that your shorts are worn out and you need to replace them. Our modesty panels take care of this. We offer our shorts in a 4 “ and a 5” inseam, as some girls just prefer the shorter leg. Also, some of you are shorter and need the 4” inseam!

  1. Made in Southern California - All our clothing is proudly made in local San Diego factories. As women, we are proud to create jobs that stimulate our local economy. We have close relationships with our factories, all of which are women owned as well.

And, finally, before any item of clothing is approved for production, it is tested and scrutinized by our team of athletes and ambassadors. Our athletes race, run and train for many, many miles in all our styles. As you can see, we have put a LOT of thought, love and care into our garments and we hope you can feel it and see it!
